Marvel Cinematic Universe Set to Introduce New Gay Superheros Including Hercules in Future Movies

Marvel’s cinematic universe is one of the most famous movie franchise in the world with more than half of the world’s population following Marvel Comics and Marvel movies. Recently, the franchise was applauded for introducing a female superhero to their list of heroes as they released the Captain Marvel character which indeed was long overdue.

Studio executives have made a vow that they would continue to strive for diversity when it comes to casting and characters for new movies in the Marvel Cinemagic universe.

Both casting director, Sarah Halley Finn, and Victoria Alonso, the studio’s executive vice-president of production, have expressed their support for a continually increasing diversity when it comes to Marvel cinema universe. The pair expressed this during a statement to Vulture.

Finn said “You’re going to see even more new faces—and faces from all different background, all ages, all ethnicities, LGBTQ, people who are differently abled,” adding that: “It’s a priority to have authenticity, to increase representation, to give greater representation to actors who have not traditionally been represented in mainstream movies on the big screen.”

Alonso also confirmed that “We’re just determined to have it be how we do it. And if we do it, maybe somebody else will do it … I encourage every studio, every indie production company, every filmmaker out there to make an effort.”

Victoria, who is married to Hollywood actress Imelda Corcoran, has stated previously that she would want nothing more than the creation of LGBT superheroes saying back in that month of March that the entire world is ready.

While there are plenty of queer characters in Marvel comics, Openly LGBT characters and superheroes remain a rare commodity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Even actress Tessa Thompson, who plays the character Valkyrie in Avengers: Endgame, and Thor: Ragnarok stated that her original intention was to play her role as bisexual, even though the sexuality of Valkyrie has not been portrayed explicitly on the big screen—and a subtle reference to her sexuality never got to make the final cut.

While Brie Larson playing the character of Captain Marvel was a dream come through for the entire population of female Marvel cinematic universe fans, Brie saw her new achievement as a means to demand that Marvel acts speedily in creating an LGBT+ superhero. She said, “I don’t understand how you could think that a certain type of person isn’t allowed to be a superhero.”

Reports reaching us recently indicate that the Marvel cinematic universe will be introducing an LGBT plus superhero pretty soon. The franchise is reportedly planning to make Hercules, the Greek demigod, its first homosexual main character in a movie. The upcoming blockbuster titled the Eternals is expected to feature Hercules as a gay Hero.

The new development was reported by movie site MCU Cosmic earlier in April, came after a report that Marvel was in search of a gay male actor to cast for the role of the films lead character.

During an interview in March, marvels president Kevin George said that ideas about more diverse superheroes in MCU, including a gay one, were percolating.

In the absence of any real explicit gay character in the Marvel Cinematic universe, some fans have decided to use their creative imagination and artistic skills to create same-sex relationships between their best superheroes. The most recent example is one that features a relationship between Valkyrie and captain marvel, apparently endorsed by both Thompson and Larson.

Thompson, who is an openly bisexual female mentioned during an interview that she imagines captain marvel, Thor, and Valkyrie as polyamorous partners.

Thompson said “I think a communal spoon—just a spoon between friends that are hardworking—it could be polyamorous. Why not? A throuple, with Thor as the baby spoon.”

We have no idea how Marvel is cooking this one, but we are sure they’ll come through like they always do.
