Cristiano Ronaldo Denies Rape Accusation

Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo is denying rape allegations recently made against him.

On Friday, football player’s lawyer shared with Reuters that they were seeking legal punishment against Der Spiegel publication for publishing  what she called “inadmissible reporting of suspicions in the area of privacy.”

According to Der Spiegel magazine, the supposed rape victim named Kathryn Mayorga claim Christiano raped her in June 2009 in a room at palms place hotel in Las Vagas.

Kathryn who is 34-years-old claims she vocally told the player that she was on interested in having sex, but he forcefully had sex with her ignoring her plea and went on his knees to plead. Afterwards.

Kathrynn’s lawyer Leslie Mark Stovall claims the case was later settled outside court with the victim agreeing to collect the sum of $375,000 and never to speak of the incident again.

Now, Mayorga and her lawyer are seeking to nullify the nondisclosure agreement after almost ten years of settling the dispute.

Leslie Mark explained to the magazine that, “The purpose of this lawsuit is to hold Cristiano Ronaldo responsible within a civil court of law for the injuries he has caused Kathryn Mayorga and the consequences of those injuries.”

Cathryn claims she has had a series of severe breakdowns in the years following the alleged rape incident. “And again, blaming of the rape. And I blame him, and I blame myself for signing that thing.” for that reason and others she didn’t mention, Stovall believes the nondisclosure agreement from 2009 should be made null and void because she was “too mentally and emotionally traumatised” to understand what she had signed.
in response to the accusation, Cristiano Ronaldo and his lawyer declared that they would seek compensation from the publication for “moral damages in an amount corresponding to the gravity of the infringement, which is probably one of the most serious violations of personal rights in recent years.”

However, the editor in chief of the German magazine maintains that his publication tried to reach out to the footballer and his team for comments before going ahead to publish the story, but they got no reply from them.

The editor in chief mention in a mail to Reuters that “We sent written questions, to which there were no answers. Nobody sued us in connection with earlier Ronaldo reports.”
Other publications are reaching out to Ronaldo’s lawyer for comments regarding the story, but until there is further information, we are left the question of whether or not the #WhyIDidntReport movement on social media has anything to do with this case.
